David vs. 4 Goliaths...or you can't be everything to everyone....

I couldn't make up my mind which would be the better title for this blog as either one would work.

What got me started last week was that we bumped into Cintas... a customer brought them up. As you may know, Cintas is the big uniform company who also does lots of stuff other than uniforms, including sell  promotional items.

I wandered over to their web site to check it out and sure enough they sell promo items but apparently it is not something they are really serious about.

After all, if they were serious, why would they be selling America's best selling retractable pen, the  Bic Clic Stic,  for twice what we sell it for?!In a quantity of 1,000, we sell it for 35¢ and they are selling it for a whopping 69¢!

My curiosity led me to check out a few of the other big names in business supplies and it's not much better. Office Max doesn't even offer the Clic Stic as a promotional product (or if they do, I could not find it), Office Depot sells 1,000 for 61¢ and Staples is a bit more competitive at 41¢ but that is still 15% more than little old MARCO.

There is a reason you'll get more  promotional pens  for your budget with us.
