No, they don't give us guns...

When my niece heard that we were going to be marshals at the PGA Championship this week at Whistling Straits, being the humorist she is, she asked if they were going to be giving us guns.

If you are into golf, this is about as good as it gets. This amazing golf course is nestled along the shore of Lake Michigan, about an hour north of Milwaukee, and getting there takes one through some of the most picturesque "farmscapes" you'll ever see.

We are part of the contingent responsible for hole #6 and yesterday Vicki and I were out there for six hours in 90° temps and nearly 90% humidity. (If you watch any of the coverage this weekend, they will be talking about the new trap Pete Dye has added to this hole. They say it may be the toughest sand trap in the world! And yesterday, during the practice round, all the pros and their caddies were staring at this new trap, scratching their heads... one pro, who will go un-named, took six tries to get out!)

But it was brutally hot yesterday. Thank goodness we had our trusty Vertical Cooler Bag to hold our water, G2, snacks, sunblock and mosquito repellent. The shoulder strap on this promotional cooler bag makes it very handy since it is quite the hike from the parking area to our hole.

Today, we are going to need our equally trusty umbrella. My favorite is the wind venting one (we have one that happens to be on closeout) and with the forecast, we'll really need it.

Off to Kohler again in a few minutes, cooler bag, umbrella in hand... but no gun!
