This ad for a local jewelry store cracks me up every year around this time. You see...here in good ole "Wisco," the Deer Hunting season is huge. So much so that some companies even close their doors because so many of their employees are out. Songs about deer camp, big sales at stores for the "Deer Hunter Widows", grocery stores stocking their shelves with extra necessities (Beer, chips, and more beer), and a free gun when you buy ...oh...an engagement ring?! Wonder what percentage they had to mark-up the ring to cover the cost of the firearm?
I'm thinking this jewelry store might find their advertising budget better spent if they lowered the price on the jewelry, gave away $100 cash, and then gave away a promotional hat or fleece jacket (Imprinted with the stores logo of course). Both are accessories, of sorts, and people can always use another jacket or hat. But really, how many guns does one need?
Sure...definitely not as much "bling", but they would spend less, advertise more, and have an advertisement that would appeal to the masses, not just deer hunters. |
