Veterans Village of San Diego is this week's recipient of the $500 custom products giveaway! They will be hosting a "Stand Down" event in July, 2013 & plan to pick promotional products that will help promote this cause.
A "Stand Down" is a community-based intervention program designed to help the nation's estimated 200,000 homeless veterans "combat" life on the streets. In July, the Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD) will be hosting this 3-day event. The intent is to help transform the despair and immobility of homelessness for these veterans into the momentum necessary to get into recovery, resolve legal issues, seek employment, access health services and benefits, reconnect with the community and get off the streets.
Upon arrival, the veterans will receive a warm welcome from dozens of volunteers and health care professionals. Many services will be offered during the 3 days including...free breakfast, a clothing tent, showers, barbers, medical & dental staff, counseling sessions, employment and job services, acupuncture and massage therapy, recovery providers, chaplains, and additional information regarding shelters and 12 step meetings.
The Veterans Village provides additional services such as after care programs, ongoing treatment options, and job placement assistance. In their last program year on record, VVSD placed over 300 homeless veterans and over 200 other unemployed veterans into long-term jobs with an average starting wage exceeding $13 per hour.

Their goal is to continue to make a strong contribution in reducing juvenile crime & gang participation and as well as encourage safe and positive alternatives for the children of the future. There are approximately 300,000 youth that participate in PAL's programs in California.
A non-profit organization that helps approximately 2,400 people a year.
