PetConnect Rescue
Potomac, MD

Pet Connect Rescue-out of Potomac MD, was founded in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Their mission is to save the lives of abandoned or high risk dogs and cats that are about to be euthanized at another rescue facility, and place them in loving and permanent homes. Over extended shelters from Maryland to Georgia call on PetConnect Rescue to help in whatever way they can and they do so wherever there is the greatest need.

This non breed-specific rescue group arranges and pays for basic medical services ranging from routine treatments, microchips, neutering or spaying, as well as serious medical conditions. Most animals that are placed in their care go into foster care, but some go to trusted vet clinics or kennels.

Before being adopted into their forever homes, the previously homeless dogs go to a transitional residence, Muddy Paws. This is PetConnect Rescue's refuge for training and socializing.

To learn more about this caring group of animal lovers, visit their website. They are always looking for volunteers to help with fostering, transportation of animals, or assistance at their adoption or fundraising events.

Sister2Sister Connection Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a non-profit organization out of Las Vegas Nevada, that offers a variety of services for girls between the ages of 10-18. Their mission is to empower girls who face challenges and help them to overcome obstacles and live healthier lives. At the annual 8-week summer camp, the girls attend workshops on health & wellness, etiquette and sex education. They also focus on improving their communication skills and learn about anti-bullying techniques and sex trafficking awareness.

The leaders at Sister2Sister wrote to MARCO looking for help in purchasing a tote bag for each camper for their summer program. They know that this will keep the girls organized AND provide awareness about their amazing program! The volunteers at Sister2Sister want to empower all girls to see life's blessings; understand that each of us has worth and help them to develop to their potential.

Heartbound Ministries
Atlanta, GA

The state of Georgia has the highest per capita incarceration rate in the world. 72,000 children in Georgia have a parent in prison. (This doesn't include the children of parents in county jails or detention centers). Children who are caught in the middle of these separations are some of the most vulnerable youth! They have a higher risk for mental and emotional problems, criminal behavior, drug and alcohol abuse and domestic violence. They are 5 to 7 times more likely to end up in prison themselves.

On April 26, children, caregivers, and volunteers from all over Georgia will converge upon Walker State prison for the 3rd year of "Returning Hearts," a program that includes a day of games and activities for incarcerated Dad's and their families to reunite. The inmate fathers can ask for forgiveness and start rebuilding their relationships with their children.

Heartbound Ministries, based in Atlanta GA, wrote to us regarding this program. They want to present something to the children that attend this event and believe youth tees will be a big hit! The celebration brings a smile to the face of over 100 kids and allows them to work towards a new relationship with their Dad. The incarcerated Dad's look forward to it all year!
