Area Agency on Aging of West Central Arkansas
Area Agency on Aging of West Central Arkansas
Hot Springs, AR

The Area Agency on Aging has been serving seniors since 1974. They are a private, non-profit charitable organization that provides an information and referral service for seniors 60 and older. They also offer many other services for seniors.

Area Agencies on Aging were created across the United States in 1974, by an amendment to the Older Americans Act. The main office for West Central Arkansas is located in Hot Springs and supports ten counties and offices in four other locations including Malvern, Arkadelphia, Russellville and Morrilton.

They are dedicated to helping seniors live independent, meaningful and dignified lives. The specialized in-home care that AAA provides allows seniors or disabled adults to stay in their homes, even as their physical abilities become limited. This type of care is for home-bound seniors who are in need of assistance in their homes and prevents or delays placement of the senior in a nursing home. This allows the senior to retain the independence and dignity that is so critical to their quality of life.

Many of their services help seniors remain happy and healthy throughout their later years. Their mission is to help seniors lead independent, meaningful & dignified lives.

Most of the services provided by AAA are free to the recipient and the in-home personal care provided by certified aides, which is not, can be covered by Medicaid, private insurance or private payment.

BEE Liberia
BEE Liberia
Boothwyn, PA

BEE Liberia was established by a young Liberian immigrant named Olive Massaquoi. The organization supports over 400 students attending the Olivia S. Washington schools of Liberia. The schools were founded by Olive's struggling single mother of five girls and have been serving the village and city communities of Monrovia since 2005.

The mission of BEE Liberia is to empower and inspire Liberian children and youths through education, while utilizing technology and social services to improve the quality of community life.

They offer and support educational opportunities, technology, and social services to the undeserved youth and communities of Liberia. Like their acronym BEE (Believe. Educate. Empower.) they believe that through solid educational and social services, they can engage and empower a new generation of Liberian boys and girls to go on and excel in any field. Their mascot, the bee, also symbolizes the resilient, collectivist, intelligent, strong, and resourceful nature of our students and community.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Rye Brook, NY

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. They are the voice for all blood cancer patients, and they work to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients.

As there are no means of preventing or early screening for most blood cancers, the LLS research agenda is focused on finding cures. LLS drives research in areas of unmet medical need, and helps to bridge the gap between academic discovery and drug development. LLS identifies and funds the most promising blood cancer research projects and forges partnerships with academic institutions, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to accelerate the development of new therapies.
