The Little Neck-Douglas Lions Club empowers volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace & promote international understanding through Lions Clubs. Their plan is to give out backpacks to children of Coney Island Brooklyn. If they are able to get over 1000 backpacks they will then go into the far Rockaway area to help those children. The children who receive these backpacks come from low income to no income families.

The Ruth Chapter No.73 Order of the Eastern Star is an organization dedicated to community service. Currently, they have a fostering program for local high schools to be able to provide backpacks and belts for boys pants for day use.
As Eastern Stars they believe and strive to live up to their chapter motto of "To Be One is To Be All". Meaning that to truly be a unit they come together as individuals of like minds to form a Sisterhood that becomes one strong unit to the betterment of all.
The Order of the Eastern Stars (Adoptive Rite) is intended to instill in the members of the Order the deepest realization of the beauties of the moral virtues, the obligations of friendship, and the duties of true womanhood. With this splendid foundation, a wonderful system has been developed, inspiring in its aims and purposes, appealing to the intelligence and moral consciousness as well as to the social instincts of woman-kind.
